Daughter of Richard Jason and Mary (Brassfield) Peters

Obit: Purley Blanche Scott, daughter of Richard J. and
Mary Brassfield Peters, was born January 26, 1879 in
Sullivan County, Missouri near Humphreys, and departed this
life December 2, 1949. At the age of 70 years, 10 months
and 6 days. At the home of her son, Richard Scott near
Milan, Mo.

On January 19, 1896, she was united in marriage to Roy
Scott of Osgood. To this union were born 6 children,
Richard E. of Milan Missouri; Mrs. Veda Savely of
Chillicothe; Lonnie R. Scott of Milan; Neva Richey of
Kirksville; Mrs. Bertha Michael of Milan and Mrs. Lula Pearl
Head of Cora.

She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the children, two
sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ralls of Osgood and Mrs. Odessa Waller
of Emporia Kansas; one brother Robert Joel Peters, Osgood;
15 grandchildren 2 having preceded her in death, nieces,
nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was converted at an early age in the Church of God and
lived a devoted Christian life faithful to the end. The
last twenty years she had been an invalid confined to her
bed nearly all the time. She stood her afflictions with
great patience and a Christian spirit to all who met her.
She was a loving and devoted mother always considering
others before herself; our loss is heavens gain.

Services were held at 1:00 PM at the Camp Ground church,
conducted by Rev. O. O. Hunsaker. The song service was by
Judy Todd, Mrs. John Shuey, John E. Todd and James W. Smith.

The bearers were Joel Peters, Rex Peters, Glen Watson,
Erva Williams, Rolla Scott, Francis Moran, Charles Beier,
and Paul Spears. Burial was in the Camp Ground Cemetery.
