Louis I. Tyler Jr., a resident of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in Tuscaloosa, at age 87.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Katherine McDonald Tyler and Dr. Louis I. Tyler Sr.

Survived by his wife, Audrey Tyler, Tuscaloosa; stepdaughter, Pam and husband Kyle Brignac, Gonzales; sons, Robyn and wife Cheryl Tyler, Louis Tyler III, Brooks and wife Rhonda Tyler, and Thomas and wife Margaret Tyler, all of Baton Rouge; stepsons, Mike Gayle and wife Teresa, Gonzales, and Tim Gayle and wife Kim, Birmingham, Ala.; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He received his medical degree from Tulane School of Medicine, served on active duty with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theater of Operations, practiced pediatric medicine in Baton Rouge for 25 years, was director of health services at Partlow State School and Hospital in Tuscaloosa for 25 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa.

Arrangements by Tuscaloosa Memorial Funeral Home, (205) 553-3141. Private graveside service in Roselawn Cemetery, Baton Rouge.
