Internment: December 15, 2020, 9:00 AMWilliam “Ricky” Carter, 72, Blair, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Funeral services with military honors will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 14, 2020 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Cmdr. Virgil Williams, DAV, officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

William Ricky Carter was born on August 11, 1948 in Altus, Oklahoma to William Sherwood and Gladys Lavada (Sherwood) Carter. He grew up in Altus and attended Eugene Field school. Ricky graduated high school in Columbus, Indiana in 1967. He served in the United States Air Force as an engine mechanic. After his service, Ricky devoted himself to service work for veterans. He used his time to drive veterans to the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. Ricky was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Blair. He also served in the American Legion Post #44 where he served as the Commander and the Disabled American Veterans serving as the treasurer. Ricky married Madonna Sue Fikes on July 11, 1992 in Duke, Oklahoma. She passed away on March 9, 2008.

His parents and wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include a sister, Paula Kay Carter; a brother, Henry Steve Carter; and many other family members and a host of friends.
