CARMODY - Rev. Deacon Paul Francis

Of Buffalo, NY, November 21, 2016. Son of the late John and Lenore (McGrath) Carmody; brother of Mary (Rosario) Nola, Dr. Patrick (Patricia) Carmody and the late Fr. Emeric Carmody, late William (Mary Ann) Carmody, late Dr. Seamus (Barbara) Carmody, and late Theresa (late John) English; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends received on Friday from 4-8 PM at the NIGHTENGALE FUNERAL HOME, 1884 South Park Ave. (near Tifft). Viewing will continue on Saturday from 9-11AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1035 Delaware Ave, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

After graduating from Bishop Timon High School in 1959, Paul joined the US Army Reserves for 6 years and trained as a combat medic at Fort Sam Houston.

He earned his Bachelor's and Master of Science degrees from Canisius College and was a NYS Certified Secondary English Teacher and Guidance Counselor. Paul taught Regents and Senior English at Seneca Vocational High School for 34 years and was a home & hospital instructor.

In 1997 he was ordained a R.C. Deacon by Arch Bishop Henry Mansell and assigned for few years at Holy Family Church (South Buffalo) and then the last 15 years at Blessed Sacrament Church working closely with Rev. Paul Bossi.

He ministered to the sick at various nursing homes throughout the diocese and for many years led Eucharistic Minister training as well as lectured at Christ the King Seminary. Paul truly loved working with people and teaching them. Words he lived by: "With the help of God, let us keep right on to the end of the road."
