Mrs. Anna Virginia (Andrews) Bingaman Benedict, 96, of Stull Road, Greencastle, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, PA.

Born March 17, 1922 in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Earl R., Sr. and Nellie M. (Stover) Andrews.
Mrs. Benedict was a graduate of Hagerstown High School with the Class of 1941.

She was employed by Pangborn in Hagerstown, MD for over 30 years and later in the catalog department of Montgomery Ward in downtown Hagerstown. Following her retirement from Pangborn, she was a volunteer at Lillian S. Besore Memorial Library in Greencastle, PA for a number of years.

Mrs. Benedict was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown and attended services with Brown's Mill Old German Baptist Congregation.
She enjoyed tending her plants and in earlier years, knitting, crocheting and bowling.

Mrs. Benedict is survived by one son, Howard L. Bingaman and his wife, Patricia of Greencastle; four grandsons, Jeff Bingaman and his wife, Deb, Stacey Bingaman and his wife, Ronda, Scott Bingaman and his wife, Gayle and Chris Bingaman and his wife, Theresa; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; two step-great-great-granddaughters; and one brother, William L. Andrews and his wife, Ella of Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard D. Bingaman who was killed in action during World War II; her second husband, Welty F. Benedict who passed away August 10, 2002; sister, Aleda M. Andrews; and brother, Earl R. Andrews, Jr.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 1, 2018 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with Elders Harold Slothour and Richard Hess officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday, and one hour prior to the service, Monday in the funeral home.
