DeAnne Marie (Zanke) Drietz was born to parents Gordon Zanke and Margaret Yackley Zanke on October 24, 1939 and then baptized in Madison, Minnesota. She was the oldest of four daughters. She lived on a farm by Madison her first few years before her family moved to Canby, Minnesota where she attended school, graduated and was confirmed.
On August 9, 1957 DeAnne married John "Jack" Drietz in Canby, Minnesota and to that union she was blessed with two sons and one daughter. DeAnne lived the first five years of her marriage in Jacksonville, Florida and Cherry Point, North Carolina where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Marine Corps. They returned to his family farm where they worked side by side farming, milking cows, and raising their family. For a couple of years in the spring, she worked at a plant in Marshall that made powdered eggs. DeAnne was a member of St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno, Minnesota.
In 2000, DeAnne lost her husband and in 2001, she moved to Canby. She cherished time spent with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, parents, sisters, cousins, and friends and brought joy to all. DeAnne took great pride in her family, and with great ease she made us feel so important and special. She also enjoyed playing cards, she played canasta with a group of friends, loved shopping and showering her loved ones with gifts. She was a tremendous help to her dad in his later years when he moved to Canby.
In 2019, health issues brought DeAnne to Sylvan Court Nursing home in Canby where she was very well taken care of and loved. She participated in many activities and kept in contact with family and local happenings.
