ALVIE EARNEST EVANS
January 7, 1949 ~ December 13, 2020
Alvie Earnest Evans passed from this life on December 13, 2020 at the age of 71.
Alvie was born on January 7, 1949 in Eloy, Arizona to Earnest & Ester Evans. He was the fourth born of their seven children. The Evans family was well traveled… mostly due to the search for employment. Arizona was just one of many stops along the way…after all, Arizona had cotton. The family would come to know that soft white fiber as a very important part of their financial wellbeing.
They trusted God for spiritual wellbeing and faith was always a cornerstone in his early family life. Their emotional wellbeing was enhanced through music. Alvie's Dad made sure of that. Their love for music was always evident and obvious to anyone who ever spent more than a few minutes around them.
Alvie was the father of eight children…five boys and three girls. He loved them all, but he had an obvious soft spot for the girls. He couldn't hide that, no matter how much he tried. He also loved and cherished Josett (his wife of 19 years).
Alvie was also a veteran and served his country in the United States Army. He spent a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam, but his mother always said that it seemed more like ten years to her. Alvie did understand that was the longest year of his parent's entire life. He loved them and always seemed to end up living somewhere close enough to ensure that family visiting was only a short trip.
Alvie was blessed with more than his fair share of musical attributes. He loved music and he loved to sing. He was known to many as the "Word Man", due to his uncanny ability to recall lyrics to thousands of songs. He played several instruments, including the guitar and bass guitar…but he was most accomplished when he was sitting behind a drum set. His passion and his forte were on the drums. He was a great drummer, for sure. Over the years, he played on many stages with lots of different musicians. There is no telling how many million times his sticks must have touched those skins.
His passing leaves us with a great void that will forever remain. We are both fortunate and thankful for the opportunity to have been blessed with sharing a part of his life, his dreams, his thoughts, his stories, and his enduring love. He was dearly loved. He cherished that love and kept us all in a special part of his heart. We will miss him greatly, but we will always have him with us as we hold his life, his memories, and his love in his special place within our own hearts.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, December 17, 2020.
