His first wife was Margarite C. Baird. They had a daughter, Margie Lou. He married second to Constance Lauryne Hill Burns. They had two children. About 1945 the family moved to California. In 1947, Wayne owned and operated a garage in San Bernardino, California. Later, he became a millwright in the Millwright and Machinery Erectors Local Union #1113.
