Barbara Kay (Shaw) Hughes, age 81, of Melrose, NM passed away on Tuesday November 15, 2020 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A visitation will be held on Friday December 18, 2020 at Muffley Funeral Home, 1430 Thornton Street, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday December 19, 2020 at Sunset Terrace, in Farwell, Texas, at 11:00AM CDT. Sara Batson, David Batson, Heather Shaw, James Bray, Brandie Bray, Kendall Mudgett, Emilie Mudgett, Annie Shaw and Kamar Riley will serve as pallbearers.

Barbara was born in 1939 to S.K. Shaw and Margaret Bailey Shaw, in Melrose, NM. She married Dudley Ray Hughes on April 14, 1981. Barbara worked at Clovis Memorial Hospital and Clovis High Plains Hospital. She also helped run the family business of Dudley's Auto Parts in Bovina Texas, from 1981 until June of 2000. Dudley and Barbara moved to Clovis to retire. She was a member of the Pink Lady Auxiliary at Plains Regional Medical Center from 2003-2013, where she then moved to Melrose, NM to be with her family until her death. Barbara enjoyed crafting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include: her son; Brian "Kieth" Shaw (Melinda) of Melrose, NM, her sister; Sheryl Nation of Wellington, TX, her brothers; Gary Shaw of Bettendorf, of Iowa and Billy Shaw of Hagerman, NM, her five grandchildren; Sara Batson (David) of Smyer, TX, Heather Shaw of Melrose, NM, James Bray (Brandie) of Portales, NM, Annie Shaw, Kamar Riley of Melrose, NM, and Kendall Mudgett (Emilie) of Melrose, NM, her nine great grandchildren; Jaelynn, Micah, Laney, Kennedi, Taylon, Braiden, Kinsley, Finley, and Taylor. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband; Dudley Ray Hughes, her parents; S.K. Shaw and Margaret Bailey Shaw, and her sister; Betty Morgan.
