James Grady Maynor known to many as “Dink” went to be with our lord on Monday December 14, 2020. He was born on Christmas eve 1938 and was a life long resident of Buncombe county mostly living in the Riceville community . He worked mainly doing the job he loved, cutting trees. He cut off many mountain roads and utility lines leading to numerous housing developments in and around Buncombe county that he and his brother did. Sometimes we’d be going somewhere in a car and he’d point to a place that he’d cut years ago that I had no idea he’d cut it off. He worked for years with his closest friend and brother Ray “Scooter” Maynor. He loved to fish and garden and go for long car rides enjoying the beautiful scenery of Western North Carolina. He was born to the late Grady Walter Maynor and Dorothy Lee Creasman Maynor and was preceded in death by his sisters Annie Mae Chandler, Barbara Burrell and Mary Ballard and his Brothers Billy “Tex” Maynor, Leon “Slim” Maynor and Edwin Maynor. He is survived by his Brothers Ray Maynor, John Maynor and Jack Maynor and his two sons Chris Nelon and Jeremy Nelon. As for the family’s wishes there will be no viewing.
