MRS BARTLETT JOURNEYED TO ETERNAL HOME
Death Came at 5:25 Yesterday Morning;
Funeral Saturday, 10 a.m.

Mrs. WF Bartlett passed away at her home in Chamberlain Thursday morning after an illness of almost a year. For many weeks it had been known that she would not recover, and the certainty of impending death was known to her perhaps as well as to others.
Mrs. Bartlett was born in St Peter, Minn., Feb 5, 1874, and her home in Chamberlain dates from the early 80's when she came with her parents - that fine old townsman Major Franklin Pickler and wife. The family was one of the best known among our pioneers, and Major Pickler was the first to recognize the natural beauties of American Island, and tried to improve the island so the public might enjoy it. All of the early residents know that he accomplished much in that respect.
Mrs. Bartlett's maiden name was Sophia Pickler. On Sept 7, 1898, she was married to Wilson F. Bartlett. He had three children by a former marriage, Mrs. CC Wischmeier who arrived last week from Ligonier, Ind., Mrs. Harley Glaus, and Fred Bartlett, both of Chamberlain. The four children of Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett are Dr. Frank Bartlett, Waldo, Roland and Miss Grace all of this city. No family comprised of half-brothers and sisters ever got along better, for which much credit must be given to the mother, Mrs. Sophia Bartlett.
In all the years that they have lived in Chamberlain, Mrs. Bartlett has been a kind, friendly and generous woman. She came honestly by the instinct to help in everything for the public good, and in this she has displayed the wonderful characteristics known by those who knew her best. Her suffering during long months of illness was known to be severe but she bore it bravely.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from the Catholic church in Chamberlain.
