Mrs. Nicolina Menichelli Abate passed away Friday December 18, 2020 at her home. Nicolina was born on May 5, 1920 In Gorga Italy. She was the daughter of Attilio & Fortunata Menichelli. She immigrated to this country July 6, 1939 with her mother to join her father in Cortland. She was employed at the Cortland Line Company, Cortland Crescent Company and Smith Corona until her retirement in 1981.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the St. Anthony’s Altar Society. Nicolina was pre deceased by her husband Ugo in 1989. She is survived by her son; Ugo (Lidia) of Farmington Hills, Michigan, daughter; Ata of Cortland, three grandchildren; Nicole (Jamie) Tilden, twin grandsons; Christopher (Stacey) Abate and Jason Abate four great granddaughters; Josephina Tilden, Ava, Cora and Olivia Abate . A very special thank you to Maryanne McEvoy who was always there when needed and who Nicolina often referred to her as her adopted daughter.
