RITES HELD FOR HERMAN ABRAHAM
Funeral services for Herman O. Abraham, 84, were held Nov 2 at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. A.A. Dierks officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ed Issendorf, Peter Schmitz, Howard Wollenhaus, August Schumacher, Arnold Marxen, Donald and Willis McElwain, Eugene and Kenneth Abraham. Burial was in St. John's cemetery with Anderson Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Abraham died Oct 29 at the Ernest Abraham Farm home. He was born Aug 5, 1873 at Smith's Mill in Waseca County, Minnesota to Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Abraham. He attended the Smith's Mill school. He was married to Elizabeth Miller Jan 2, 1895 at the Lutheran church in his home community. The couple farmed in Waseca county for seven years before moving in 1902 to the farm southwest of Wheaton on Lake Traverse where they lived until 1954 when they moved to the village of Wheaton.
Although he retired from active farming in 1939, he made his home with his son, Ernest, until 1954. His hobbies were gardening, carpentry and the farm. He was a member of St. John's church.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham observed their 62nd wedding anniversary at a family party last January. Previously they had observances on their 50th and 60th anniversaries.
Surviving are his wife, four sons; Arthur, Dent; Edward, Max and Ernest, Wheaton; two daughters, Mrs. Otto Hormann [Myrtle], and Mrs. Herbert McElain [Esther], Wheaton; 23 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; four brothers, John, Smith's Mill; Gust, Elbow Lake; Louis, Dent; Emil, Janesville; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Dittburner and Mrs. Henry Gekeler. Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
