Mr. Deskin, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Friday at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 2 days. He was the oldest grandson of William and Louise Frank and he was born in the old Steven's Ranch, then a cotton plantation, near the Black Hill Community.

He attended the Camp Ranch School, also in Wilson County and in 1942, at the age of 18, enlisted in the U.S. Army in which he served for 20 years, during World War II and the Korean conflict, attaining the rank of sergeant first class. He was wounded overseas in 1943. Besides the Purple Heart, he earned the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars; the Bronze Arrowhead; the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star; a Good Conduct Medal; the Victory Ribbon; and four overseas service bars. After retiring from the military, he worked at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio in civil service.

Preceded in death by: parents, James and Martha Frank Deskin; brothers, Charles "Dickie" Deskin and James W. "Buddy" Deskin ; sister, Martha Lea Deskin .

Survivors include: brothers, Clarence Deskin, Alton Deskin and Allen Deskin; aunt Hertha Frank Treijer; uncle, Albert "Pat" Frank; sister-in-law Allene Deskin; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 30 with Bro. Gordon Lindley of the Church of Christ officiating.
