Warren was the president of the Warren & Bailey Manufacturing Company of Los Angeles. He grew up and was educated in Ohio and graduated from Hiram College in 1883 and went to work for the United States Internal Revenue Department in Cleveland, OH. He later moved to Los Angeles and purchased one-half interest in the manufacturing business. The business became very well known as distributing agents of engineers' and mill supplies throughout the southwest. Warren served as treasure of the Lyon Fireproof Storage Company, president of the Auditorium Company, director for Commercial National Bank and second vice-president of the Young Men's Christian Association. He was also noted for his financial support and counsel of the Y.M.C.A. Warren married Maude Remick on June 5, 1895 and their daughter Elinor was born February 23, 1900.
