Born Oct. 30, 1936, in Barre Town, Lee was the son of Earl Wallace Bolles and Eleanor Elizabeth (Meaker) Bolles. He attended school at Trow Hill Elementary in Barre Town.

Lee married Shirlene Margaret Elmer on December 10, 1960 in The Hedding United Methodist Church in Barre. They made their home in Bradford and Trow Hill in Barre Town, before moving to their present home in East Barre in 1969.They were married over 50 years until her death in on January 3, 2013.

Lee and Shirlene had three daughters. His middle daughter, Laura Lee (Bolles) Badger, predeceased him after a valiant battle with cancer. She died just a few weeks after Shirlene on February 2, 2013. Lee missed them both greatly until his death.

In earlier years, Leland worked at Perry Auto before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed for four years in Newport, Rhode Island. When Leland returned from the Navy, he worked at Hayward Transportation, Perry Auto, Formula Ford, and then became self-employed, operating "Bolles Repair."

Leland was an active member of the East Barre Fire Department. In earlier years, he and his family would enjoy Sunday afternoon rides with his in-laws, gardening at his parent's house, snowplowing, tinkering on things – especially his Ford tractor and spending time with his neighbors, the Clarks. He also enjoyed many years of camping at Mobile Acres in Braintree with many friends.

He is survived by two daughters and their spouses, a son-in-law, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and their spouses, and two sisters and their spouses. In addition to his parents, wife and daughter, he was predeceased by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A special thank you to his brother, Franklin (Frankie) and sister-in-law, Sandy, who took care of him in the last years of his life. The family also thanks the staff at Lincoln House and the Barre Gardens for the care they provided to Lee.
