Mrs. Melissa Jane Bassett, wife of the late Samuel Bassett, died at her home on Genesee street Tuesday evening. She was born in Warsaw on November 4, 1833, a daughter of Daniel and Betsey Hewitt Gay. She leaves 3 children, Huldah, Samuel and William Bassett, all living in Warsaw, a sister Mrs. N.S. Perkins of Hardys Station and two brothers Orrin Gay of Oscaloosa, Iowa, and Orlando Gay of Warsaw. The funeral will be at her late home Friday afternoon at 2:00. Dr. Geo. H. Burgess officiating, and interment will be in Warsaw.
