Police Officer Kendle Blackburn died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 from a presumed exposure while on duty.

Officer Blackburn had served with the Lebanon Police Department for 16 years and had previously served with the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office for five years.

Son of Raymond Glen and Irene Esther Glendenning Blackburn, was born in Lebanon, Missouri, on September 22, 1965, and departed this life on December 28, 2020, in Columbia, Missouri, after a courageous battle, at the age of fifty-five years.

Kendle graduated from Lebanon High School with the Class of 1983. After graduation, he was employed at Consumers, The Durham Company, Lowe Boats and was with Security at Copeland. He started a career in law enforcement in the late 90’s and has served with the Lebanon Police Department for many years. He also served as a deputy with Laclede County Sheriff’s Office and a brief time with Richland Police Department.

He was united in marriage with Debbie Sue Appleberry on June 27, 1987, and to this union was born three sons.

Kendle is survived by his wife, Debbie Blackburn; three sons, Christopher Glen Blackburn and his wife Brittini of Marshfield, MO, Jordan Alexander Blackburn and Austin Wayne Blackburn and his wife Nicole, all of Lebanon, MO; his parents, Raymond and Irene Blackburn of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Kooper, Karson, Sadie, Willow and Daisy Blackburn; two brothers, Randy Blackburn and his wife Suzanne of Rogersville, MO and Kevin Blackburn and his wife Sonja of Lebanon, MO; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Pauline Appleberry of Plad, MO; several other relatives and many dear friends.
