James B. (Shaemus) Hughes, 91, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Craven Hughes and sisters Mary Margaret Snyder (Ken) and Jayne H. Miller. His wife of 54 years, the former Mary Ann Horan also preceded him in death.
Jim was a longtime member of the Highland American Legion Post 201, Flaget Alumni Association, an Ursuline Associate and was a Kentucky Colonel. Jim served his country in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He retired from K&IT, Norfolk Southern Railroad after 47 years of service and also from the Funeral Auto Company.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2021 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, January 3rd at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Ursuline Sisters, Mass of the Air or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
