Verlyn N. (Beihold) Brooks, 91, of West Deer Township, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020.

Born Jan. 7, 1929, in Decatur, Ind., she was the daughter of the late William and Emily (Henline) Beihold.

Verlyn was a 1947 graduate of Monmouth High School in Decatur, and attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina.

She operated a small interior decorating workshop and interior design studio for more than 40 years.

Verlyn married Bertram B. Brooks on June 14, 1952.

She was a longtime member of Northgate Baptist Church in Ross Township. She took a very active part in Bible and religious studies, and enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by her children, Bert (Joan) Brooks of Plum Borough, Rebekah Brooks of Gibsonia, Gregory (Lorre) Brooks of Pittsburgh, and Douglas Brooks of Valencia; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Brooks of Gibsonia; one grandchild, Cheyenne Brooks of Elizabeth; and her sister, Imogene Beihold of Fishers, Ind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bertram; her sons, Christopher Brooks and Mark Brooks; and eight siblings.

BROOKS - A memorial service for Verlyn N. (Beihold) Brooks, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, will be held at a future date when conditions permit.

She will be laid to rest privately at Kittanning Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of King Funeral Home, Allison Park.

The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Division, Inc., Southwest Region, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620, or at www.cancer.org.
