Mrs. Nellie Price age 89, a housewife of Carthage, died at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Madison on December 31, 2020 at 03:28a.m. Thursday morning where she was admitted December 27th.
Mrs. Price was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. She was to be cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood. No services are scheduled and burial will be in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.
The youngest of nine children born to George Edward “Ed” Hardcastle who died at the age of 65 on November 18, 1965 and Sally Ann Bowman Hardcastle Angel who died at the age of 76 on September 7, 1974, she was born Nellie Mai Hardcastle in Carthage on March 5, 1931.
Eight siblings preceded her in death, Roy Lee Hardcastle who died September 5, 1946 at the age of 25, Clarence Odell Hardcastle who died August 23, 1964 at the age of 45, James Edward Hardcastle who died June 4, 1994 at the age of 79, Ernest William Hardcastle who died September 10, 1966 at the age of 41, Ruth Kathylene Hardcastle Smallwood who died November 29, 1982 at the age of 58, Myrtle Francis Hardcastle Wills who died August 1, 1997 at the age of 63, Dora Elizabeth Hardcastle Butler who died October 31, 1999 at the age of 82 and Frankie Ethel Hardcastle Oliver who died May 19, 1986 at the age of 83.
Mrs. Price was the husband of Defeated Creek Community native Clifford Keith Price.
A twin daughter, Sally Darlene O’Patchen Garcia who died December 26, 2019 at the age of 70 and a son-in-law, Terry Garcia preceded her in death on March 1, 2018 at the age of 69.
Mrs. Price retired as a nurse at the Quality Care Nursing Center in Lebanon in 1996, a career that spanned over thirty years.
Surviving in addition to her husband is the other twin daughter, Anna Lorene O’Patchen of Carthage; grandson, Roy Garcia and wife Lynna of the Pleasant Shade Community; three great-grandchildren, Tim Garcia and wife Summer of Hartsville, Tonya Garcia and fiancée Stephen Devore of Lebanon, Roy Garcia of Florida; one great-great-grandchild, Emery Miles Davis.
