Carmen Marani ved. Casarini was my maternal grandmother. Age 89, of Sassuolo (MO), Emilia-Romagna, she suddenly passed away of cardiac arrest, complication of Covid-19, on Friday, January 1, 2021 in an ambulance while being transported from Casa Serena Retirement Home in Salvarola Terme, frazione of Sassuolo, to Sassuolo New Hospital. Born on Thursday, April 9, 1931 in Carpi (MO), Emilia-Romagna, with the name of Carmen Norma Maria Neri, she was the daughter of Dino Marani and Lucia Irene Neri. She was born out of wedlock and she was recognized as a legitimate daughter by her father only on July 9, 1943.
She married Enrico Casarini on October 20, 1962 in Migliarina, frazione of Carpi, the town where she lived for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Enrico; parents; step-mother Ernesta Magnanini.
Survived by daughter Paola (Marco); grandson Luca; sister-in-law Anna; nephew; niece; cousins; all families and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Sant'Antonio da Padova Church, Sassuolo. Interment at Sassuolo New Cemetery; arrangement were by Onoranze Funebri Gianni Gibellini, Sassuolo.
