Betty Susan Kennedy, 94, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at River Oaks. She was born at Frostburg, MD on April 15, 1923, a daughter of the late James D. Livingstone and Hazel G. Younkin Livingstone. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, B. Ray Kennedy on May 21, 2003.
Mrs. Kennedy is survived by one son, Larry James Kennedy and wife Tammy of Reynoldsville; one daughter, Susan Rebecca Tustin of Clarksburg; one sister, Leanna Phillips and husband Bill of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister-in-law, Lucille Smith of Philippi; four grandchildren: Brian Carl Tustin (Amanda) of Laurel Valley, Bradley Ray Tustin (Brooks) of Laurel Valley, Bart James Kennedy of Clarksburg, and Nanette Day Lafferty (Bill) also of Laurel Valley; 15 great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Jade, Maddison, Braden, Trey, Tyler, Landen, Kasalyne, Xavier, Treytin, Bart, Brian, Nikki, Thomas, and Jeffrey. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Betty was preceded in death by one sister, Doris M. Livingstone.
After graduating high school Betty worked at Hazel Atlas for a short time, and then later Clarksburg Diaper Service, before retiring to life as a homemaker and raising her family. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksburg, loved to read, and enjoyed traveling. Betty also enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and crochet. When she was able she made afghans for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed "her tv shows," especially Dancing with the Stars. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will always be loved by her family.
The family will receive friends at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 3 until 8p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church (175 W. Main Street Clarksburg) at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. John F. Koerner presiding. Mrs. Kennedy will lie in state at the church on Tuesday morning beginning at 10:00am. Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.
