A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 30th at Brinson Cemetery in Canoochee.
Rebecca was born on February 18, 1953, the daughter of the late Wallace and Eloise Smith Bailey of Summertown. She was a member of Summertown Baptist Church, and the 1971 graduating class of Swainsboro High School. She graduated from Georgia Southern College with the following degrees: B.S., M.Ed., Education Specialist. She was an active member of the Georgia Southern Theater Group. Rebecca followed in her mother’s footsteps and became an elementary teacher. She taught in Summertown, Louisville, Valdosta, Florida, and Swainsboro. Rebecca was an extremely talented vocalist, pianist, and organist. She was involved with the Miss Georgia Pageant for a number of years and enjoyed several hobbies, including ceramics, beading, porcelain, and painting. She was a beautiful, loving, free spirit that touched everyone and excelled in everything she ever attempted. Her greatest joys in life were her art works and being “Yaya” to her three grandchildren.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents and six first-cousins.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Noah and Allison Hutchison of Windsor, Colorado, and their children, Grace, Harper and Eli; and six first-cousins and extended family members.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and prayers. In lieu of flowers the family request letters of stories to be written to Noah, Allison, Grace, Harper and Eli and sent to PO Box 2515, Ellijay, GA 30540.
