Agnes (Rempel) Smith was born in Ekaterinovka, Russia. When she was 2 years old, the family immigrated to Canada in the Davidson area of Saskatchewan. Education was very important to the family and Agnes became a teacher. They lived on the farm and in 1963 Agnes began teaching in the Vauxhall Elementary School where she taught grade 4 for over 20 years. Upon retirement they moved to Vauxhall where they were very involved in the community and in the Parkview United Church.

Agnes had a passion for her faith, family and helping others. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, golf, curling, bridge, quilting, camping and travel. In 2000 Agnes and Clinton moved to Chestermere to be closer to their daughter, Sharon. Clinton passed away in 2006 and in 2012 Agnes moved to Prince of Peace Manor where she resided until her passing.
