He was a Capt. in the American Army of the Revolution, and died or was killed during the war. The DAR Partiot Index lists him under Patriotic Service only. He is mentioned several times in the "History of Durham" as a subscriber to the Book company that bought books for the town; as one of a committee approinted by the town of Durham, Nov. 1774 "to observe the conduct of all persons in the town touching on the Association, and to deal with such persons as shall
violate the same..." (An association of patriots formed for this purpose). On a list of those who took the oath of fidelity, 8/26/1777, he is listed as "Capt. Israel Camp."]
