Roy was a carpenter who worked making cabinets and in the building industry. Roy and Emma were married in Dane County, Wisconsin in 1899 and lived there for the first years of their marriage. They moved to Chicago after 1905. They had four surviving children--Bessie, Ruth, Scott, and Daniel--and three more who died as infants. There is an obituary posted on the memorial for Roy's wife Emma that has their surviving children listed in it.
