Ada Jo Boren Burke, 88 of Greenville NC, formerly of Siler City died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living.
Mrs. Burke was born in Guilford County on October 27, 1932 the daughter of Benjamin Clark and Frances Florence (Wheeler) Boren. Ada Jo was a Special Education teacher for 26 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Siler City.
She was an avid reader and crafter and loved traveling and camping. Ada Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tommie Gene Burke, son Mark Wheeler Burke, brother Benjamin Clark Boren Jr., and sister Martha Gray (Boren) Thomas.
She is survived by one daughter: Laurie Burke Clendenen and four sons: Tommie Boren Burke, Ben Eugene Burke, Jonathan B. Burke, Travis Gray Burke; grandchildren: Christopher Travis Baker, Sara Ashley Baker, Elizabeth Boren Burke, Chelsea Rene' Burke, Scott Wheeler Burke, Emily Liane Burke, Jonathan Gray Burke, Morgan Gray Burke, Jessica Lynn Burke, Nolan Rayman Burke, Grayson Truitt Burke, Sophia Barbee Burke, Natalie Gray Burke, Madelyn Jenner Burke; great-grandchildren: Stratton Gray Burke, Kolar Gray Burke, Ivy Celeste Fletcher Baker; step-grandchildren, Miriam Therese Tait, Shelby Faye Shepard, Zackary Paul Shepard; step-great-grandchild, Serena Anne Walters.
Mrs. Burke will Lie in Repose on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, N. Chatham Ave, Siler City with Rev. William Sabiston officiating.
