CARRIER MILLS - Maritta S. Pavelonis, 61, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Indiana University Health Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Keith Bunfill officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

HARRISBURG -- Maritta S. Pavelonis, 61, Harrisburg passed away peacefully at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the Indiana University Health Center in Indianapolis, Ind., with her loving husband by her side.

Maritta was born on Dec. 18, 1951, in Pekin to the late Harold Harper Jr. and Mary Lou Glass Harper. She married Brad Pavelonis on June 4, 1977, and he survives. Maritta graduated college with her BSN and RN degree and recently retired as a practical nursing instructor of 31 years with Southeastern Illinois College.

She was a member of the Land Street Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg and attended the Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church in Stonefort.

She is survived by her her husband, Brad Pavelonis, Harrisburg; son John (friend Sarah Cox) Pavelonis, Cape Giardeau, Mo.; mother, Mary Lou Harper, Stonefort; mother-in-law, Olive Kibler Pavelonis, Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Harper Jr.; and her brother, Mark Timothy Harper.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, Carrier Mills. The Rev. Keith Bunfill will officiate and burial will be in the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the service time at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Please respect the wishes of the family in omitting flowers, plants and novelties. For those who wish memorials may be made to the Stonefort Missionary Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
