Georgetown:
James Marvin “Jimmy” Mundy, 68, husband of Alyce K. Barwick Mundy, died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Mundy was born at Georgetown Memorial Hospital on November 20, 1952 to the late Mildred E. Mundy and James E. Mundy. Jimmy grew up and attended schools in Georgetown and graduated from Winyah High School. Jimmy went on to the Police Academy and followed in his father’s footsteps as a police officer in the city of Georgetown.
After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Alyce Barwick he changed careers in anticipation of starting a family. Jimmy went on to work in various fields which included Insurance Sales, Real Estate, Automotive Sales at Parrish Motor Company, and International Paper Company, where he later retired.
Many of his interests included but were not limited to diving, boating, fishing, and he was a jack of all trades. Jimmy was always willing to lend a helping hand and put others before himself. He was kind, loving, and an amazing father. He established strong bonds within the community and would go above and beyond to help wherever needed.
Above all else, Jimmy loved his family and he was the greatest father anyone could ever have been blessed with. He loved his wife so deeply and called her his sweetheart. Jimmy passed away on their forty sixth anniversary in the arms of the one he loved so dearly.
Funeral services will be two o’clock Thursday afternoon, January 7, 2021, in Screven Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jamie Harrelson. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from one until two in the church sanctuary.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is predeceased by: his sister, Cherrin Mundy Moore (Henry).
Surviving are: his wife, Alyce Barwick Mundy; his sister, Diane Mundy Wall (Charles); three daughters, Adrianne Mundy Sanderson (James Eric), Alycia J. Mundy, Emma K.
