Mrs. Saunders was born in Richmond, VA, and had been an off and on resident of Aiken since 1952. While living in Aiken, she worked for E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Site as the Plant Paymaster. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her late husband, Charles T. Saunders, Jr., and spent lots of time in their homes located in the mountains and on Clarks Hill Lake. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church in Appling, GA, and was active in various church functions and organizations. She also enjoyed taking pictures of her family members when they were all together.
Mrs. Saunders is survived by her son, Charles T. (Carla) Saunders, III, Aiken; grandchildren, Charles T. Saunders, IV, and Chandler T. Saunders; great grandchildren, Patrick and Thomas Saunders; sister, Blanche Winn, Richmond, VA; special nieces and nephews, Lesley Phillips, Nancy Roorbach, and John Winn; and a special cousin, Claudette Stuart.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Clarke Thomas Saunders, and a brother, Lyndon Dennis Clarke.
A private graveside service will be held in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, Appling, GA.
