Obituary
Elizabeth Thompson was born in Millbrook Township, Peoria County, Illinois, October 24, 1848. She was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret [Paul (Cation)] Thompson [both from Scotland].

Her early life was spent on the farm, and she received her education in the public schools. February 28, 1867 she was married to W. H. [Hughes] Cornwell. To them ten children were born, four of whom died when quite young. One of the sons who reached maturity, Charles A. Cornwell, died in Monica, Aug. 15, 1913. The husband and father died Oct 5, 1897.

Being of Scotch parentage, Mrs. Cornwell was brought up in the Presbyterian Church; but after her marriage she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, as did also her husband. She was a devoted Christian and an earnest worker in the church. By nature being of a cheerful disposition, she was ever gathering friends to herself. As a wife and mother, she was devoted and loving. A faithful student of the bible, she had a large conception of her Redeemer's love for the world. The plans that were beyond her direct activity were aided by her means and her prayers.

Mrs. Cornwell passed away at her home in Williamsfield, Ill., March 26, 1915, aged 66 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

She is survived by four sons, A. W., P. P., S. H., and D. M., by one daughter, Mrs. Mabel M. Harris and by 18 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother Mrs. Margaret Thompson and by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Margaret Murdock, William T. Thompson, John Thompson, Mrs. Agnes Baxter, Davis Thompson and Samuel Thompson.
