William C. Sheridan, of Modesto, passed away on July 17, 2014, at the age of 91. He was born in Lake Comanche (formerly Lancha Plana), California on July 5, 1923, to Joseph and Catherine Anne (Kern) Sheridan. William was raised in Lodi, CA. After high school William joined the Army then the United States Air Force. After serving for 22 years, he returned to Lodi in 1967. He was then employed by San Joaquin Parks and Recreation Department until he retired. William was an avid Oakland Raider fan. He enjoyed gardening and being outside. He enjoyed playing card games, especially poker. After retirement, he loved having Saturday morning donuts with his brother Cal and mapping out their garage sales for the day. William loved being with his family and friends and going to his favorite Chinese restaurant to eat. He was very proud to have served in WWII and the United States Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1967. William is survived by Francelina Sheridan; daughters, Mari Taormina (Sam), Carole Dyska (Irv), and Mary Louise Rainey (Dave); sons, Joe Sheridan (Tamara) and John Valadao (Candy); grandchildren, Michael, Michele, Chase, Allen, Brittany, Danielle, Nathan, Elizabeth, John , Nicole, Nicole, Brian, and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Brady, Weston, Brooke, Blake, Trinity, Dylan, and Scott; and sister, Florence. He was preceded in death by his cherished sons, Dave and Gary Sheridan; grandson, Jacob Dyska; sisters, May, Jane, Rose, Eleanor and Edna; brothers, Woodrow, Charles, Calvin, Patrick, and Ferd. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glen View Cemetery, 900 Victor Road, Lodi, CA 95240.
