Elmer Oliver Spillman a retired farmer, died at his home here at 4:30 p.m. yesterday of a heart ailment. He was 79 and had been in failing health for the past three years. Spillman was born in Indiana on Feb 27, 1874 and as a boy came to the Monmouth area with his Parents. He was married Nov. 1, 1899 in Monmouth to Miss Abble Dunston (sic Dunstan). They moved to a farm three miles west of 'McCune and lived there for 35 years. Ten years ago they moved to McCune and he retired. She died Jan 22, 1954. He is survived by a son, Lawrence Spillman of the home; two daughters, Mrs Laurel Davis Mountain View Calif. and Mrs. Retta Elliott, San Jose, Calif. Other survivors include a brother Ellsworth Spillman Cherokee; two sisters Mrs. Lillie Harvey and Mrs. Lula Watts Kansas City: nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m Sunday at the Shigley Funeral Home. The Rev Carl Pratt will officiate Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery. Special from the McCune Herald:
