Lillian L. Bailey

Lillian L. Bailey, 82, of Parkersburg passed away Thursday, Feb. 15. 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 1, 1924, in Waterford, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel Collins Stephens. Lillian was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and served her country during World War II in the U.S. Navy (W.A.V.E.S.) While a W.A.V.E., she marched in President Franklin D. Roosevelt's funeral procession in Washington, D.C. She formerly worked at the Viscose and the Shovel plant and was a 4-H leader in Parkersburg for several years. Lillian loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were sewing and reading.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Starcher of Parkersburg, Linda Dearth (Greg) of Belleville and Barbara Davis (Warren) of Parkersburg; one son, Steven Bailey (Sandra) of Parkersburg; a son-in-law, Robert Sees of Parkersburg; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Josephine Longwell of Parkersburg, Doris Greathouse of Lancaster, Ohio, and Betty Jordan (Jim) of Parkersburg; two brothers, Jack Stephens (Loraine) of Lancaster, and Jim Stephens (Pam) of Parkersburg; a sister-in-law, Ginny Stephens of Stockport, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert R. "Buffalo Dick" Bailey, who died Feb. 27, 2006; a daughter, Jeanette Sees; and a brother, Tom Stephens.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Loyd Winans officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen South Cemetery, with full military honors by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday.
