--Daughter of Albert Sidney Camp and wife Sarah Farmer. Her father was a U.S. Congressman from 1939 until his death in 1954. She was raised in Newnan and graduated from Newnan High School, where she was a cheerleader.
--She earned her bachelor's degree at Hollins College, her master's degree in Education at Emory University, and her PhD at the University of Georgia.
--Occupation: Professor. She first taught at West Georgia College and then at Queens College (both schools now University) from 1972-2000.
--Mollie married William E. "Bill" Davis on September 30, 1954. They had 4 children. Daughter Sarah preceded her in death. Her 3 sons: Elwyn, Sid, and Powell. Mollie and her husband later divorced.
--She was active in the movements for Women's Rights, Women's history, and Civil Rights. She was active in the Democratic party, both in GA and NC.
--Member of Myers Park Baptist Church.
