Dr. Calbert Trent Seebert was the son of Jacob Frye Seebert and Mary Jones. He married Martha Maria Strain on 26 Nov 1890 in Rockbridge Co., VA and they had 5 known children (see wife's site).

Calbert was a medical doctor. He was very interested in his family ancestry and wrote about his wife's Strain family and others.

On the 1870 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found farmer J F Seibert, 36; Mary Jane Seibert, 32; Calbert T Seibert, 8; Mary Rebecca Seibert, 1 and E Zimbroe, 9, all VA born.

On the 1880 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found Jacob F. Seebert, 46, WV born; wife Mary Jane Seebert, 43, WV born ; son Calbert T. Seebert, 18, VA born and daughter Mary R. Seebert, 11, VA born.

On the 21 Jun 1900 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co. VA census, I found farmer Calbert T Seebert, 38, Jan 1862; wife of 9 years, Martha Seebert, 32, Jan 1868, had 4 children, all living; sons or daughters: Joseph E Seebert, 8, Nov 1891; Mary Mck Seebert, 6, Aug 1893; Walter D Seebert, 4, Mar 1896 and Margaret S Seebert, 1, Oct 1898, all VA born. Calbert's parents were both born in WV and Martha's in VA.

On the 1910 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co. VA census, I found farmer Trent C Seibert, 48; wife of 20 years Martha M Seibert, 42; sons or daughters: Joe E Seibert, 18; Mary M Seibert, 15; Walter D Seibert, 14; Margarete S Seibert, 12 and Martha Seibert, 5, all VA born.

1915: "Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Seebert Celebrate Silver Wedding Mr. and Mrs. C. Trent Seebert oelebrated the twenty fifth anniversary of their marriage last Friday evening, November 26, 1915, at their home on Whistle Creek. The occasion was one of interest to a wide circle of friends and relatives, and about seventy guests were present to extend congratulations. The hospitable home was tastefulIy decorated, the color scheme being white and green, with a touch of silver. Miss Martha Dunlap and Miss Lula McCorkle presided at the punch bowl, and refreshments were served by the numerous cousins of Mr. and Mrs. Seebert. A delightful musical program was rendered. Miss Jessie Groseclose of Lexington, sang "Sing Me to Sleep," aad "Tipperary" and several old-time songs were sung by the young people present, led by Miss Groseclose. Among those present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Newland of Buena Vista, Mr. and Mrs. David E. Strain, Miss Jessie Groseclose, Miss Agnes Penick, Mrs. W. Horace Lackey, Messrs. Paul M. Penick and Frank Moore of Lexington. Mr. C. Trent Seebert and Miss Martha Mariah Strain were married November 26, 1890, at the home of the bride's parents, Dr. and Mrs D. E. Strain of Brownsburg, Rev. C. R. Vaughan, pastor of New Providence Presbyterian church, officiating. Five children have blessed this union. They are: Joseph Eldred Seebert, a student at the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia; Walter Dunlap Seebert, a student at Washington and Lee University; Misses Mary McKee, Margaret and Martha Seebert. Mr. Seebert is a prosperous farmer and cattle dealer and an enterprising and patriotic citizen of his community." Published in the Lexington Gazette, Vol 111, #48, dated 1 Dec 1915.

On the 1920 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co. VA census, I found stock farm farmer Trent C Seebert (Ancestry indexes Subert), 57; wife Martha M, 51; son or daughters: Mary, 24; Walter D, 23; Margret S, 21 and Martha, 14, all VA born. They lived on Whistle Creek Rd.

His wife Martha died on 31 Aug 1928.

On the 1930 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co. VA census, I found widowed farmer Calbert T Seibert, 68 and daughter Margart S Seibert, 28, both VA born. His parents were born in WV.

1936: "Old Monmonth And Its Times By J D Morrison (From Mrs. Walter W Dunlap's Scrap-books) Chapter XII... ....In the early times before the organization of the Oxford church there, were a number of Monmouth families in that section and lower down on Buffalo. The Findlay's and Mackey's occur to me. Coming back down Whistle Creek in addition to the Wilson families before spoken of is the Weir name (now in 1936 owned by C. T. SEEBERT). The name of Hugh Weir occurs in the old papers. He was blacksmith I take it as there is an account of his for furnishing hardware for the church such as hinges, nails, etc., and of making them. The late Wm. E. Weir who owned the Seebert place was I presume a descendant of his..." Part of a long article in the Lexington Gazette, Vol 133, #26, dated 5 Jun 1936. On the 1940 Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge Co. VA census, I found farmer and widower Trent C Seebert ("Subert"), 78 and daughter Margaret S, 41. He was born in WV and she was born in VA. He completed 2 years of college and Margaret, 4 years of college. They lived on the State Road 641.

Calbert Trent Seebert was born 10 Jan 1862 in unlisted, to parents Jacob Frye Seebert and Mary Jane Jones. He was a farm owner and raised cattle, plus the widow of Martha Strain. On 30 Jul 1950, he died in Lexington, VA. The informant was his daughter Margaret S Seebert. VA Cert. of Death #17081.

"C. T. Seebert Popular Farmer Passes Sunday.- C. T. Seebert Mr. Calbert Trent Seebert died Sunday at his home on Whistle Creek after a long illness. He was a native of Millboro, son of the late Jacob Frye Seebert and Mary Jane Jones Seebert, born January 10, 1862. Mr. Seebert was a popular farmer and cattle man in 'Rockbridge county, attended Washington and Lee University and for 56 years was an officer in New Monmouth Presbyterian church. Funeral services were conducted from the grave in New Monmouth cemetery "Tuesday morning at 10:30 by his "pastor, Rev. C. A. McDonald. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Joe Seebert, Oak Hill, W. Va.; and Walter D. Seebert, Tazewell; three daughters, Mrs. Mary M. Starr, Mt Vernon, Ohio; Miss Margaret Seebert, and Mrs. Martha Boyden; both of Lexington. One sister, Mrs. W. P. Newland, of Buena. Vista, also survives. Also three grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
