Edmond P. "Pa" Hayes, Sr., 81, life long resident of Shrewsbury, died Thursday, May 29th in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, two daughters, a son, and 7 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers. Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Patrick and Delia (Corcoran) Hayes. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick, and four sisters: Mary and Theresa Hayes, Eileen Atchue and Patricia A. Vaudreuil.
Ed was a long time employee for the Town of Shrewsbury. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Highway Department, and then later was transferred to the Health Dept., before he retired. In his retirement years, Ed always found something to do, whether it was puttering in his yard, going to flea markets or making himself always available for the needs of his children or grandchildren that he loved so dearly.
He was a member of Saint Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury.
