TRACY, Calif. -- Clyde Lee Bland, 81, of Tracy died March 1, 2007, in Hughson, Calif. He was born Aug. 15, 1925 in Rogers to George and Mae Lee Bland. He grew up in the Rogers, Larue and Rocky Branch area. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He moved to Tracy in 1963, where he operated State Farm Insurance Agency. He was a member of the Planning Commission and was appointed to the City Council in 1985. He was elected mayor in 1990 and was re-elected in 1992. He was a member of the Rotary Club, past president of the Kiwanis and was a member of Southwinds Church, where he served as deacon and taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ina Mae Bland; his children, Judy Castellon and husband Donald of Tracy, Charles Bland and wife Darla of Volcano, Calif.; four grandchildren; siblings, Veba Keck, E.A. "Pete" Bland, Mary Helen Logan, Wilma Townzen and Martha Wierick, all of Rogers.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fry Memorial Chapel in Tracy. Burial will be in Tracy Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
