Mr. Adams served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He trained and raised Registered English beagles and won numerous trophies at the State Fair for his prize chickens. He was a professional western style square dance caller traveling over much of the United States and Canada.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial, Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving: wife, Joyce Edwards Adams; daughters, Jerry A. Richardson and her husband, James Earl of Raleigh, Robin A. Stephenson and her husband, Zeb of Knightdale, Pamela A. Hartman and her husband, Karl of Pittsboro; son, Dorsey Lee Adams, Jr. and wife, Roni of Zebulon; sisters, Catherine A Callahan and her husband, Hamilton of Raleigh; brothers, David H. Adams, Jr. and wife, Odessa of Knightdale, Tony G. Adams and his wife, Carlette of Knightdale; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Dorsey was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie A. Reeder and by his brother-in-law, Howard Reeder.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 and other times at the home of Zeb and Robin Stephenson, 302 Kingston Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
