Robert L. Cote, 74, of Bristol, beloved husband of Lorraine (Martel) Cote passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2006.

Mr. Cote was born on January 13, 1932 in New Britain, a son of the late Alfred and Blanche (Beaupre) Cote. Robert was a devoted husband and father, and is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine; his three children, Steven Cote, Kevin Cote; his daughter, Michelle Gordon, all of Bristol; his three grandchildren, Joshua Cote, Shawn Cote and Tyler Cote; his daughter-in-law, Donna Cote; and his brother, Roger Cote of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his son, Gary Cote who passed away in June of 2004 and his brothers, Roland and Ralph Cote. Robert L. Cote was a true military man, he started his career in 1951 in the U.S. Army and volunteered to become a paratrooper. He served with the 101st and 82nd airborne combat units. While in the Army he served in Korea. After three years in the U.S. Army he then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He proudly made a career of the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Senior Master Sgt after 22 years, having served two tours in Viet Nam. He was truly proud to be an American and served his country with pride and dignity. While in the military he received the following, the Korean Service Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal, the Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal, the USAF NCO Academy Graduate Ribbon, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Longevity Award Ribbon. He dealt with his illness with great strength and courage. He was exceptionally easy going and good natured. He was and avid Red Sox fan, and loved music and sports. He adored his children, and his grandchildren were the joy of his life, his wife Lorraine was the love of his life. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him, for he was truly wonderful.

Funeral services will be from O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave, Forestville to St. Matthew Church, Forestville for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberts memory may be made to: Hope Clinic, 10 North Main St., Bristol CT 06010.
