Cora Mae Baker Atkinson, age 93, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Born April 4, 1927, in Trigg County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Evelyn Cunningham Baker. Cora started her working career as a night operator for Bellsouth and later retired after 30 years as an auditor for AT&T. She enjoyed spending her free time reading, taking a walk, and cheering on her favorite teams, the Tennessee Titans and the Kentucky Wildcats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Atkinson; a brother, James Baker; two sisters, Elaine Sanders and Mary Anne Carr; a nephew, Dr. Jack Sanders; and two great-nieces, Kelly Sanders Haugh and Nicole Baker.
She is survived by two nieces, Joyce (Danny) Bozarth of Cadiz, and Karen Slate of Lancaster, Ky.; four nephews, Tommy (Peggy) Baker of Lebanon, Tenn., Jim (Janis) Baker of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Randy (Amy) Baker of Antioch, Tenn., and Tommie (Kandie) Carr of Burleson, Texas; and ten great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, January, 18, 2021 at East End Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street, in Cadiz.
