Tacoma, Washington - Glenda Eileen (Robbins) Thayer passed on January 4, 2021, in Tacoma WA. She was born on January 27, 1931 in Tacoma WA. to Percy & Florence (Leighton) Robbins. She lived in Pierce County all of her 89 years and attended public & parochial schools of the area. On July 10, 1948 she married Arthur A. Thayer in Puyallup. She worked as an upholstery cutter and sewer but her passion was genealogy. She taught genealogy adult education classes in the area as well as volunteering in local libraries. She truly enjoyed helping people trace their ancestry. She was considered an expert in this area and in 2000 and 2004 she received an award for her outstanding service to the City of Tacoma. In 2011 she was presented an award from the Washington State Genealogical Society for her service. She was a member of Mary Ball Chapter of DAR since 1980 and a longtime member of the Tacoma-Pierce C. Genealogical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, as well as her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
She had great musical talent and could play guitar, piano, accordion and many other instruments as well as sing. She was very sharp minded and enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed making crafts from sewing, knitting, crocheting and other creative ideas. She is survived by her only child, Marjorie Rowland, 2 grandsons Steven Krotzer (Lisa) and Dennis Krotzer (Leanna), 2 greatgrandchildren Mason Krotzer and Madeline Krotzer. She is also survived by many relatives, too many to list here. Glenda and Arthur both played guitar and sang together and now are singing again with the angels.
