Betty L. Ake, 88, passed away on July 9 at Pebble Creek Assisted Living Facility in Akron.

She was born September 7, 1921 in Akron, Ohio and lived in the area her entire life. She was a 1939 graduate of South High School.

Betty worked for her father (George C. Roush) at Roush's market for many years. She also worked as a secretary at Kenmore High School. Betty was a long-time member of the Rolling Acres Walkers Club.

Betty was known as a very polite, friendly, woman who always tried to find the best in people. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, V.E. (Gene) Ake, her brother, George W. Roush, and sister, Alberta Yerkey. She is survived by her only child, Don (Dawn) Ake of Jackson Township; granddaughters, Allison and Cassandra Ake; and brother, William D. Roush.

Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Boulevard, Akron, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Prentice, with Pastor Mike Richardson officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery will follow.
