Joyce Mounds Anderson, wife of the late Peter Clayton Anderson, born Joyce Elizabeth Mounds, on February 16, 1953, was the daughter of the late Samuel and Marion Mounds in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of five, Norma Littleton, Carol Headen Vincent, Ross Mounds Linda and Fannie Menefee Lawrence. She is survived by her two daughters, Lauren Colomb and Susaye Lawson. A 1970 graduate of John Harris High School, she went on to complete her Bachelor's degree in Political Science under full academic scholarship to the Maxwell School at Syracuse University in 1974.

She began her early career working in Urban Planning & Development for the City of Harrisburg and the City of York. She was a pioneer in launching the HUD housing program. Joyce then transitioned into the insurance world as a claims associate at Nationwide Insurance Company & financial analyst at AIG. As a strong advocate of the arts, she became passionate about the financial fortification and sustenance of non-profit cultural organizations. She served as CFO at the African American Museum of Philadelphia and worked in human resources and finance at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Throughout her professional life, Joyce continuously pursued higher education. Her daughters often teased her for being a professional student. She completed a Masters in Business Administration from Wet Chester University in 1998, a Masters of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 2008 and a Doctorate of Ministry from Wesley University in 2012. Always teaching and leading, her studies at Seminary focused on their burgeoning youth fellowship and ministry. During her studies, she served as pastoral intern at Thorndale UMC, the Senior Pastor at Valley Forge UMC and finally as the Senior Pastor at Haws Avenue UMC of Norristown, PA since July 2011.

Her teaching assignments include Adjunct Professor at West Chester University, Eastern University, Esperanza College and Rosemont College.

Joyce enjoyed all things church throughout her life with a strong devotion to the mission of Jesus Christ. She traveled throughout three parts of India in 2008, a trip that compelled her to embrace her calling as a Pastoral Care Minister and set her on the sole path to be a soldier for Christ. Joyce's most special gift to everyone around her was her dedication to others through friendship, music, fellowship. She enjoyed many friends, documentaries, strong conversations, reading and always expanding her mind.
