Marjorie “Maxine” Tredway, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Cumbernauld Village.

Born April 16, 1931 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of Alvin and Alice (Dorsey) Logsdon. She was raised in Cambridge and Dexter, graduating high school in 1947.

Maxine was united in marriage to Robert Ralph Tredway on her birthday in 1949 in Cambridge. The couple made their first home in Dexter and later in Cambridge. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1965 due to their son’s health. While in Phoenix, Maxine worked as a drapery maker. The family moved to Winfield in 1970. Maxine worked at Binney & Smith Crayola and the Cozy Corner Café. She began working for SRS as a Family Preservation Worker, which fulfilled her love of taking care of others, retiring in 1994. Throughout her lifetime, Maxine enjoyed being involved in foster parenting and foster grandparenting until 2008. Robert preceded her in death on July 13, 2011.

Maxine was a charter member of Cambridge Baptist Church. She was very active in the church until her health no longer permitted. She was a member of the Chicken Association while in Cambridge. Maxine loved helping people and taking care of her family.

Her family includes her son Walter Tredway and wife, Ruth of Bolivar, MO; her daughters Marjorie Miller of Cambridge; Paulla Alford and husband, Terry of Cushing, OK; her grandchildren, Christina Berkstresser and husband, Caleb; Georgia Galt and husband, Garrett; Jennifer Cimmiyotti and husband, Robert; John Miller and wife, Jamie; Nathan Alford and wife, Melissa; Robert Alford and wife, Mindy; April Tackett and husband, Jonathan; Chace Alford and wife, Kami; Suzzanna Aldridge and husband, Nathan; 27 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by her sister Martha Jean Asbury, great grandchildren, Hannah Leigh Shepard, Caycen Kordell Tackett, and an unborn baby, and a son-in-law Allen Miller.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Cambridge Cemetery on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5. The family will greet visitors during this time.

A memorial has been established in Maxine’s name for Cumbernauld Village Employee Appreciation Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
