Obituary for Mary Elizabeth "Maribeth" Newcomer
I am heartbroken to share that my wife of 53 years, Mary Elizabeth Newcomer, lost her brief battle with cancer at home, Saturday, January 16, 2021.

MB, or Maribeth, or Betsy was the first child born to Bill and Sally Grimes in Anderson on April 16, 1939, and was a graduate of Anderson High School in 1958.

MB and I, Robert Newcomer II, were married March 9, 1968, and our son, Robbie, was born that same year. She was so proud of Robbie who went through his disabilities, was able to graduate from Ball State University with two teaching degrees.

One of her many (and probably her favorite) jobs after high school was working at the Wilson's Boys Club. She also loved working at Dr. Gephart's office as a dental hygienist and secretary. She had many funny tales to tell and had much compassion for these young boys. She was also very happy being a part of Treasures in downtown Pendleton where she had a window booth for many years selling her one-of-a-kind wicker furniture and ice cream parlor tables and chairs.

My sister, Susan Hafner, and I along with Fred Hutchins, MB's cousin, and his family will miss her as she was such a vital part of our lives, and Robbie and my greatest cheerleader.

Going before her were her mother and father; brother, Michael Grimes; and our beloved son, Robert Newcomer, III.

I would like to thank our dear friends, Alan and Melanie Campbell, Dean and Lynn Davis, Debbie Lucas, Nancy Welling, Larry Connor, and Rita Russum for being there and helping in this difficult time.

Loose Funeral Home is in charge of the graveside services which will be held at 2:30pm on Thursday, January 21st 2021, at Anderson Memorial Park with our neighbor and friend, Rev. Bill Cornell officiating.
