James was born 27 September 1939 in Neptune, New Jersey to James O'Donohue and Catherine Devlin O'Donohue and has a younger sister, Doris O'Donohue Schmidt. James Graduated from Kearny High School, Kearny, New Jersey about 1957. He married Dolores Ann Nolan on 23 February 1963 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Kearny. James and Dolores have 2 children, Joanne and James. James had Juvenile Diabetes which caused him to lose his sigh, he attended a 20 week Braille course at Mount Carmel Guilde Center for the Blind in Newark, New Jersey. He died at the young age of 25 of complications from the Diabetes.
