Colleen B. Toal, 81, of Galesburg, died at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Knox County Nursing Home.
Colleen was born October 26, 1928 in Galesburg the daughter of Burdett and Grace Johnson Ross. She married Richard "Dick" C. Toal on May 7, 1949 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg. He survives of Galesburg. Also surviving are two sons, Tim (Debbie) of Milan and Bruce (Chris) of Galesburg; two daughters, Denise (Rick) Randolph of East Peoria and Becky (Jeff) Lundeen of Galesburg; two brothers, Lanny (Emily) Ross of Arizona and Dennis (Marlene) Ross of Colorado, a sister, Renee (Ron) Mercer of Missouri; her step-mother, Rachael Ross of Missouri; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Burdett Ross, and her mother and step father Grace and Byron Smith.
Colleen was a 1947 graduate of Galesburg High School. After high school she worked at Trimble's Small Animal Hospital where she enjoyed grooming dogs. After she and Dick had children she became a homemaker, raising all the children in Galesburg. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Galesburg.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 22, at Watson Funeral Home. Private funeral service and burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Knox County Nursing Home.
