A U.S. Marine Corp veteran; he was wounded in battle while serving in the South and Central Pacific during WWII. He worked for the Pillsbury Company until starting with Griffitts Construction business in 1955; where he served as President for thirty years until his retirement in the fall of 1990. He was a member of the Elks Cub #158 for thirty-nine years and was also a member of the Springfield VFW.
Harold was a happy go lucky gentleman who enjoyed cruises and liked to travel the world. He watched Westerns and enjoyed a good book. He liked sports including baseball, bowling and golf. His favorite hobbies were playing cards, fishing, going to garage sales and cooking. Harold was a one of kind gentleman who was liked by everyone he met and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Edward Griffitts, Arthur Griffitts, Raymond Griffitts and Harley Griffitts and two sisters: Rozella Griffitts and Sophie Griffitts. He is survived by three brothers: Harry (wife, Joanna) Griffitts of Riverton, Horace Griffitts also of Riverton and Henry (wife, Sherlyn) Griffitts of Milton, FL; one sister: Roberta Brunner of Springfield and many nieces and nephews.
